Laura Giraldo

(Bogotá, Colombia. 1990)

 

I am a young Colombian Photographer with a passion for nature and dance photography as well as Alternative photographic printing process, recently working towards conceptual art photography through exploration of colour, shape, and movement.

 

My works aim to represent my view of the things I consider beautiful, curious and new, through experimentation with several photographic techniques and a wide variety of subjects including nature, dance, and still life. Most of my work includes shooting in a studio, as I like to have control of the light and backgrounds allowing a much deeper study of the subject, although I like to work outside as well, usually searching for details of small things, insects and animals, movements or colours, which I use frequently as a source of inspiration for new projects, or to enrich existent ones.

 

Graduating as Audiovisual and multimedia communicator from La Sabana University (Colombia) and as a MA photography student at University for the Creative Arts (UK) I widened my vision about photography and other arts like video, animation and script writing, which have nurtured the way my pictures are constructed, interpreted and made. My education, culture and passions assess the way I view my surroundings before I take the camera in order to let the viewer into my world.
